GW2 Collector's Edition Giveaway

Many thanks to everyone who entered last week’s giveaway, where the winner walked away with a standard edition copy of Guild Wars 2 signed by the ArenaNet developers. The hundreds of replies we received were hilarious from start to finish, and have had our writing team cracking up on Vent ever since the giveaway kicked off.

For our next giveaway, we’ve got an awesome prize for one lucky winner: a collector’s edition of Guild Wars 2! These puppies are next to impossible to get ahold of at this point, and feature some of the coolest includes I’ve seen in an MMO CE to date. The statue of Rytlock alone is worth snagging for your collection, not to mention the prints (plus frame), soundtrack sampler, Making Of book, and in-game items.

As with our last giveaway, this one will be open to all registered users, and is not region specific. Read on for the full details on how to enter!

The Prize

This week we’re giving away a collector’s edition of Guild Wars 2 to one lucky winner. Even if you’re a current player, the CE is packed full of awesome worthy of adding to your collection:

GW2 Collector's Edition Items

If that isn’t enough, you’ll be able to have a direct impact on future feature content on GW2Hub, with full credit given for the concept here on the site.

How to Enter

Entry is open to all registered members of GuildWars2Hub.com. If you’re not currently registered, you can do so here, or by clicking on the ‘Create New Account’ button found in the login area of the sidebar to the right.

Please note: we will be using the email address used to register to contact our winner and obtain shipping details, so make sure you use an existing, active email account!

Once registered and logged in, leave a comment on this post with the following:

  • The name and basic description for a new regular feature you’d want to see added to our weekly content lineup here on GW2Hub.

  • Be as creative or descriptive as you’d like, and you may also submit more than one feature name and concept during the contest period.

We’re in the process of analyzing our current list of original features (links for each can be found listed under Original Features in the sidebar to the right), and brainstorming some new ideas now that we have a larger writing team for the site. While we have some incredibly cool things planned, we also thought it would be an awesome opportunity to let our readers provide input on exactly what kind of content they’d like to see in the coming weeks and months.

We’ll be accepting entries from now until 11:59PM Eastern Time on Monday, September 17th. At that point our writing team will meet to vote on our top pick and decide who our winner will be. The winner will then be contacted via the email address used to register for the site, and once confirmed we will ship out a shiny new collector’s edition of GW2.

At that point our writing team will also decide who will be the best fit to pen the new feature which will make its inaugural appearance within the next couple of weeks. Our winner will also be fully credited within the feature posts for providing the concept and title. How awesome is that?

Be as descriptive as you’d like with your entry, and bear in mind that the focus should be on a written content idea (we already have things in the works for audio and video). You’ll also want to come up with an interesting, unique title for your concept. Otherwise, it can be anything you can come up with be it pure entertainment, informative, thought provoking, or even a combination of things.

Good luck everyone – we’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with! And don't forget that we'll be rolling out new giveaways each week this month, so we've got even more ways for you to win some awesome GW2 loot coming up next week!

I will win ? ! ? ! I think i will !

Need to give some really good ideas for this prize i guess. Feel free to pick the ones who suits you the most yes

At first I thought about some unique GW2HUBish lore telling. There is really enough content to branch to and it would be awesome to tell ALL the lore how it happened from start, BUT I'm scared it could end up like gw2wiki clone, EXCEPT if it would be made in a video format that is acceptable for those "TL;DR"-Too Long;Didn't Read folks, but that also is quite much work from my point of view.

So then I thought about guides, WAIT WHAT ??? According to GW2 team each player must find his own playing style that he's accustomed to. Really, guys and gals, I think we don't need another place to put  players in frames (You must use that skill over that, but not those...etc.). For those who can't decide for themselves how they want to play, I guess they don't play for joy, don't want to experience the game, explore it's edgy corners and so on. And if they still want to play according to someone, there really are lots of those guides/tutorials.

And here I was, making my brain boil, starting to get that dish out on the table and came up with this. You find my address and bring that CE to me. That was a joke of course, I can come up with better stuff cool

Here goes. The plan is to:

1) Attract users that play GW2

2) Try to give them that chocolate spice to their butter.

The actions:

1) Wait...they're playing the game you silly, you can't draw them out from that world to these wilderness so simple. Of course we can, majority has school, jobs, colleges to go and they need connection with GW there. So we make a competition that everyone loves from time to time and we use the simple old trick with the "code somewhere at that time that has some meaning".The main idea what i'm trying to say is this: There's this weekly article or something else where you have hidden phrase or something similar hidden and it can be multiple words or even just hints to find another clue. And from clues you get the location/time maybe something else. My first idea was that at that time in that location IN GAME is character of GWHUB staff that gives some sort of prize to 1st who arrives or the first three. 2) Sadly i can't get the idea of what prizes are worth the challenge and are not enormously expensive. I can think of similarity of rare pets in WOW maybe or some gear, but as  I said it's hard to tell as I haven't seen the GW2 world.

NOTE : This idea is more likely how to attract people to read weekly articles not the idea of what it should contain or be about, BUT I must think of something good to win yes

Best I could think of now could be:

1) Funny stories / comics that make fun of other MMOs, I've always enjoyed to read those :D but I don't have any hate towards those other MMOs.

2) Summary / newsletter of best Teams in SPVP or best Tournament standings or best Servers in WvW. Maybe even some players of the week that have done something notable or funny.

3) Guess would be quite hard, but I don't know the potential of your team =) Interviews with the devs about upcomming weekly stuff, their experiences (good/bad) with players. In short, their point of view about things that happened or will be happening.

That is all my friends =)

"Being Legendary" would be a cool feature that I've noticed is really missing on sites, there should be guides on how to obtain every Legendary in the game, from which materials you need to where to get them , etc :)

One.. two.. three.. FIRE!

Let's say it like this, the Hub is at the moment like a great book.

You can find anything you want to read about GW, It's interesting, it covers everything, and there is always more from where that came from.

However in this era It's all about your audiovisual senses, what you see and hear you absorb way better as you need not the imagination combined with reading.

What I'm suggesting is create a feature, that will leave the subscribers breathless.

It's that feeling you get when listening to TSFH and you stand up from your computer raise your fists in the air and let out a majestic battlecry because you feel just EPIC.

This feature will add the dynamic factor to the website and in my opinion will complete it.

What I'm talking about is:

1) Music Videos with GW2: Hell yea, how many times have you watched your favorite anime, game, movie edited by some creative dude or dudette to such level that you can only shit your pants from the awesomeness. It's called art because it brings out the best emotions in ya! And it can be user submitted, voted by you which one will be covered.

2) Epic moment of the week! In a game such as GW2 a ton of epic stuff is bound to happen and I'll bet you a shiatsu massage that a witness will have the camera rolling. A Warrior charging into a bulk of the enemy forces while outnumbered and giving them hell? A Mesmer playing tricks on some poor fool? Or a simply jump of faith, yes I actually made it to that branch! Whatever the deal It's always awesome to watch stuff like that.

The list for that kind of multimedia can be endless, anything from funny moments to pure manliness and incredible luck and I would LOVE to watch series like that, just like I do for other games. And pvp, I live for pvp :P

It would require a catchy name, maybe several for different types of the show, and it has to sound awesomezor!

Maybe The Dragon Chronicles.

You get the idea anyway, luck follows the brave. *drops his helm and charges onto a legion of enemies with only his greatsword*

To Help players explore...

Before my suggestion, I have never played GW or GW2 so just basing it on something that would be very unique and creative...

Maybe something like a scavenger hunt. Have players find random things, look for things, go to certain places etc. You could have some easy ones in there, but make it tougher as it goes on. This might help new players to learn and explore the different areas of the game, especially if you had them get different items. They could always screenshot the items that they get or if they go to the certain place/location. It would be a good way to keep players active on the forums and keep them coming back. I'm not sure of a good name, but I could come up with one I'm sure cheeky

Weekly articles about all things PvP, from different builds, to guides on the various SPvP maps and WvW strategies.

I know the SPvP areas are always packed to the gills, and WvW is also, but many people have no clue what they are supposed to be doing, they run around in zergs, or just try to kill any enemies they see.  The articles you currently have are a good start, but guides on various kinds of builds and how they work in PvP for structred and WvW would be great, strategies on how best to hit the SPvP maps and guides on keep/objective assaults would help and maybe sections on the various different kinds of siege engines you can make and what it costs in cash and resources.

Another section could cover how Guilds interact with WvW objectives in concern to their keep claiming and banners, and maybe a tournament guide for the 5v5 section of SPvP.

jumping puzzle speed runs!

you should do a new series with the community involved. to get into details:

every week you will announce one jumping puzzle in tyria and challange the users to get it done as fast as possible. they will upload the vids to youtube etc and  after a week you will crown "the champion of <jumping puzzle name>" maybe with some cool neat litte rewards.

or you could do it as a live event. where 5 or more people will meet on a server on the start of the jumping puzzle announced and they will battle it out who is the best with some stylish racing commentary from the guilwars2hub stuff(on a livestream or something).

would be awesome to see such timeruns especially in the wvwvw jumping puzzle.

Dynamic Events - Stories in stories

Before entering the details of my post, I want to say that I have never played Guild Wars 2, I am just following GW2 videocast on youtube and fansite (and this site rocks!).

The PVE in GW2 is just amazing, the art style, the different areas, the dungeons, they look fantastic! It looks like a world. Arena.Net wanted to make a living world, and they came out with Dynamic Events as a valuable solution.

Each Dynamic Event has its own story, NPC fighting, protecting something, traveling through Tyria. In many gameplays I have seen so far, people just completed a DE they randomly encountered and then went on their own way (that's good actually, the sense of freedom in Tyria seems overwhelming). But it would be nice to read how the DE chain goes in that particular area, to get the sense of what was going on and what will happen after the completion\failure of the DE.

It would be nice to have these stories told, to follow the chain of the DE and tell everybody the little story one went through. In this way we could enjoy many interesting details of the game, the amazing work done by the developers, and feel the world.

Due to the variety each class can play....with traits/weapons and whatnot, why not have a section where you interview a player. Asking about his/her character, their lore, their play style, what things in the game are their favorite, what they would like to change...ect.

Interviews are fun. Their is a reason 50% of all media is interviews.

Look forward to the new section

The Black Lion Underground:

One of the things that I have been having trouble with in-game is making and keeping coin.  I'd love to see a weekly guide with information on speculating on in-game trade, what items are selling high right now, what items to hold on to for a while, general tips on items to watch out for, areas to farm, rich veins or gathering clusters.  Anything to help add to my purse without horribly repetitive grind.

The Leader of the Band:

As has been mentioned by a poster earlier in this thread, interviews are a staple to all forms of news media.  A spin on the Guild of the Week, this spot would interview a different guild leader each week with an eye toward what ideas they use for recruiting, events, how they spend influence, what they do to keep players happy and drama at a minimum.

It might also be possible to allow people to nominate guild leaders for the spot.

The Wardrobe

Hey,

This is a feature that might be nice. I know there are lists of images of various items across the internet but they are not very well catalogued and not easy to work out the name of the items with the appearance.

For example, I had a nice axe in BWE3 and I forgot the name. I could find the image of the axe online but not the name. It took quite some experimenting and buying then selling of various axes ingame to find the model again.

SO the idea could be a well labeled catalogue of items that can be updated by users.

The cataloue could also include images and names of dyes on light, medium and heavy gear.

Lot of players think that mage should be with staff, ranger with bow and so on...

Would be nice, that would be some kinda test, where player answer questions and than algoritm calculates players professions and weapons which would suit more for playing style individually for player.

My suggestions

Hit and Mists

Each column is the story of a single round of WvWvW written in first-person style "dispatches" from the front, e.g. a WWII soldier's diary. A ground-level view of the war, giving a sense of the immense scale of the conflict -- the bloody battles, small victories and crushing defeats.

Alternate title: Apocalypse Cow (because of the dolyaks, right?)

Paying For It

Each week sees a detailed review and breakdown of one item (or set of items) available for sale in the Gem store. Lets readers know if those shiny-looking toys are worth ponying up real money for!

Alternate title: Gold for Gems

The Menagerie

Each column delves into a different non-playable race, e.g. the delightful quaggan, the sneaky skritt, the stoic kodan, the xenophobic tengu. Discusses what we know of them, where they can be found, how they live, how to fight them (if they're an enemy race). Almost like a biological or anthropological breakdown. Think David Attenborough narrating.

Alternate title: All Creatures Great and Small

Dye Trying

A guide to the fabulous, fashionable world of dyes. What colors go best with each other? Is it better to dye your armor in realistic colors, or does anything go? Can my asura really pull off this shade of purple? Is it worth paying a fortune for rare dyes on the trading post?

Alternate title: Live and Let Dye

My idea...

Feature name: Map of the adventurer

Feature concept: My idea is to create an interactive map of Tyria weekly updated with story, information (like level of enemies in that area, dropping percentage of some kind of objects, events in the nearby zone, stuff like that) and photos of the principal and most interesting places on the map.

Ideas

"The Statusphere" (name could use some work)

In-depth statistical analysis of loot drops. Which mobs drop what, at what rate, in what area. Are some mobs worth farming for particular loot/materials?

"GuildHub"

A list of each guild, which server they are on, a description of their mood/atmosphere, what playstyle/playertype would fit in with the guild, list of players in the guild, and their activity levels. I'm thinking a "Guild Wiki" sort of tool so someone who is looking for a guild to join, or switch guilds can have a very simple tool for finding a new group to play with. Also, could be useful if guild(s) are found in WvW play to be stretchin the standard code of conduct, someone could go to this tool for a method to contact the guild and make a note that "a player from your guild was found doing X, maybe you want to look into this"

Sad Quaggan

Sad Quaggan.
Stories of untimely demises that illicit a laugh, encourage those who have had similar experiences, and a lesson of warning to those who haven't. Meant to be funny but perhaps also ironic.

For example:  I was at Morgans Spiral and decided to follow Morgan and see if I could leap as he did. I worked my way up with a few faceplants and close calls. I then look down and say to my friend: "Wouldn't it be sad if you fell as you got to the top."  With the words still lingering in the air I make my way up to the final jump and as I'm adjusting my position I remember far too late...I didn't turn off double tap to evade...I followed Morgan, I just leapt in the wrong direction.  Sad Quaggan is sad.

I hope you all had a chuckle from that. If you did something similar you know you're not alone and if you haven't experienced this puzzle, remember double tap to evade may snatch victory from you and leave you with a sad Quaggan...and no one wants that.

The Tyrian Tribune

A weekly collection of the highlights from each day's build update notes - a summary of the more notable changes made to the game for that week, in one handy location for non-wiki users. In short, the news - as far as game changes and updates go.

NOT for "changed X skill from 6 seconds to 4 seconds."  That doesn't make for an intersting article to read.

IS for "We can now craft directly from the bank!" or "Ranger Pets no longer need an 'F-Rez!' and other big changes made to the game.

Maybe for some of the more notable bug fixes as well, such as "The events in Sorrows Furnace server map "Lornar's Pass" are working again."

Etc.

Gather Around The Hearth

Gather Around The Hearth.

This would feature player written RP stories based on locations, events, story points and sPvP WvW happenings in the game. The Guild Wars 2 Hub challenge would be editing the material submitted by the readers/players.

I believe this would help promote game growth as players would see motivation in the stories and people discovering the game would find a living community.

It's one thing for your local store to say "This product is great" and a much better thing for the person that uses the product to tell you "This product is great! I used it to...".

Build of the week [VIDEO!]

I would really love to see a Build of the Week, where a successful player / guild wars 2 hub staff member posts a video educating people on how to play their favorite / a particular profession build in their words.

Written guides are great and all, but not nearly as awesome as a video guide. 3-10 minutes max. One video per week.

This site needs VIDEO. I bet these posts would have the highest views, and people would view these pages for a long time (aka watch the whole video).

Tyria on 40 Minutes a Day

Tyria on 40 Minutes a Day

The column name is, of course, a play on travel guides that promise that the frugal can enjoy, for example, "Paris on $40 a day."

The feature would explore all of the facets of GW2 from the perspective of the "casual" gamer, i.e. those of us with lives that don't allow us to play for hours on end. Sure, we used to play games in marathon sessions where we forgot to eat, sleep or leave the apartment. But many of us have moved beyond a world where we can do that anymore. We have commitments. We can only jump on for a little while each day. Maybe it's after the kids are in bed or while we're wolfing down our lunch or when the boss (or our spouse) isn't looking. What can we really do, can we really enjoy ourselves, and what might we miss out on if we can only play for 40 minutes a day?

Oh. And by the way, if you can't decide which of your talented writers should pony up more of their valuable time to take on this new feature ... I'd be happy to write it. Call me!

Hidden Gems / After Action Report

Title examples: Hidden Gems / Sneaky Secrets / Off the Beaten Track / Explorers Compendium / The Almanac /  Book of Knowledge / Griffin Enthusiasts Field Guide / The Journal of Crazy Ivan (game item) /  Mystic Chest (unlocked)

The idea of the feature is to highlight things that players rushing through the game might miss. Things like secret events or snippets of stories or lore. It could include the history of a place or just the best ways to see something or get somewhere, or what is in that cave and how do I get to it?

Examples:  The kids playing in a cave who want to test your knowledge of Destiny's Edge, or the NPCs to find and talk to and kick off events.

The lore background of the little scenes and places that appear all over the game, referencing Guild Wars 1 etc. All that good stuff.

***

Another idea could be something based on Events. Call it  "Not a quest hub" or Live and kicking / Big Adventures / Saving the World one Bunny at a Time / Definitive Cow Pie /   After Action Report  /  Mystic Clover / Tattered Armour

This could highlight particularly fun / interesting / challenging or good story events. How to kick them off (e.g. if its NPC or linked to a previous event) Strategies and what the rewards are.

Perhaps this could include information on the larger world events and how to succeed or fail at previous events in order to kick off the bigger chain. At the moment it seems that these big world events aren't happening because the first sign of them starting gets squashed by the zerg (at least in low level zones).

Just a couple of ideas. I look forward to seeing the new feature whatever you choose!

On the Wings of Seraphs or Seraph Wings

A play on words, due to the Seraph guards etc, I see this as a historical and geographical look at the regions of GW2, including points of interest that the players might miss by simply playing the game.

EG, WHY does Rata Sum float?  Who made that decision and how was it implemented...?

Also, perhaps, it could be used to discuss some of the more interesting vista points.

A lot of the history is glossed over in the GW2 guide, so this might also be used to look at Fan submissions, say fanfiction or art...?  Maybe even a screenshot gallery.

Better Help Guides

For me it would be better and more complete help guides per profession.

What are good builds, weapons, taints etc. What skill to use when.

Having come from WoW I have found the level of information on these areas lacking on every site.

Acquire new players with good guides on GW2Hub and they will stay ;)

Help out new Players

First of all I did not  play guild wars 2 , but as i played other MMORPGs I think a Economy guild will help all, by faster lvl-ing  in PvE, and getting more Gold, as for getting more gear and stuff for less pain in PvE and dungeons.

I mean like a real example of how to do this other then quests ( events )

for example :

what is best to sell on the market place ( when its up ) what is best to make as a tailor etc. for money.

I think this should help a lot of ppl at the very start of the game.

Make a Youtube channel, achievements section and a chatroom.

1. Make a Youtube channel! You can post builds, builds of the week, guides to diffrent places (like hidden stuff, hard to reach places, exploring etc.). You can also upload epic PVP kills (montages), PVE guides on how to kill certain monsters, bosses, crafting guides,PVP guides,Skill Guides, Skill Explenation, Skill builds and tactics, Updates, patch notes,Tips and Tricks, Expansions, Update and Expansion reviews and even you guys playing the freaking game and enjoying it hell of a lot :D GW2 has a lot of content so you basically just need to pick something and make a video of it :) Your channel along with this site can get pretty popular ESPECALLY if you make giveaways like this one and if you do cool stuff and you might also get partnered with Machinima or another network and get money from your videos for even more giveaways ! Youtube can make you famous :)

There is a site called YTtalk and that site is only for Youtube channels so If you decide to make one, go there, introduce your channel, make promotions for your videos that you made, your site, communicate in the forum and you will get alot of subscribers just because pretty much every gamer wants to play this game (and there are alot of gamers in this site including me - Radial9Gaming) so ya, if you'd like you can check it out: http://yttalk.com/ :)

2. Also make an achievements section explaining every single achievement, how to get it and tips how to complete it easier.

3. Add a Chatroom tab on the left side or the right side or a chat bar that you can open or close at the bottom part of the site (example: http://i.imgur.com/98c2F.png ) so we can chat freely about stuff because forums are good for alot of things but one of them is not chatting fast with people because it takes a lot of time :)

I hope you like my Ideas and even If I not win, I'd love to see these things happen :)

I am sorry If I have some grammar mistakes, English is not my first language.

P.S. I just watched the Angry Joe review and I got a boner.

Thieves Guild Headquarters - Thieves` Market

Each week an information broker within the organization is met to exchanges valuable information. These information will give members an  edge over the general mass  in their endeavors  in various facets of game.  Latest market place steals. The quickest(perhaps not the most chivalrous)  way to the complete objectives. To obtain wealth and success through knowledge and wit, not brute force.

The Gilded Gab

A feature on GW2 ever changing and growing economy. Not only information on what's trending, but why it's trending and what could be trending next. Ideas on where to put money now for later, and what to take money out of before its too late. Maybe not a guide, more like economic news and speculation feed.

In everything that GW2 has, I don't think the economy has been getting nearly enough attention.

Ways and Means

Every map has a bunch of waypoints, vistas, and points of interest to see...and some of them can be difficult as heck to find or get to. What I'm suggesting is a travel agent, who through videos or pictures shows us how to get to those tricky locations...you could include the local flora and fauna, or suggestionson  tactics if the spot is heavily populated.

This would be a public service, keep you guys busy for a LONG time, and be something reasonably easy to do that people would appreciate. How many times have you heard in chat " how do I get to the X?" I'd love it if the text was written in the tone of whichever race  populates the map, ie, a Charr travel agent gives us the skinny on the areas in Charr territory, a snarky Asuran in the Asuran areas, etc.

Feature

The articles that i have read with the most enthusiasm were in the GRENTHS GROG feature. Maybe it has to do with the fact that i love necro style. Even though i don't own the game i watch daily videos of necros. So I guess that there are a lot of people that like other professions, and maybe each deserves a weekly article.

The Market

The Market would be a weekly or twice weekly feature that would describe various current tips and tricks for buying and selling on the trading post. As we all know the GW2 market will fluctuate as time passes and some things might me found cheaper one week and worth buying but are two expensive the following week to be worth it. The feature would also point out what items should be farmed or gathered in the week to sell on the market depending on the demand.

Roaming Ranger Report

Roaming Ranger Report would be where Rangers can come to talk about what builds are working where and what ever they would want to trade stories or Items to post for trade.

Guild of the Archeologists
Have a feature for explaining the easter eggs and lore nods to the original Guild Wars. This spoiler feature might get new GW2 players interested in the original. A Heroes of the Past highlight could spotlight important characters in the original GW and a snippet of how they influenced the world in their time and what impact could be felt in GW2.

Lore of the Players/Guild and Ingame-Events

Hello there,

i hope it's not to late to enter, i'd really like to win the CE (i already got the game but want the collectibles, the game itself would be a gift for a friend of me)

So, my idea would be a Lore Section which will be filled from Players/Guilds.

Players/Guild could submit their Lore/Epic Stories etc and every week or so there would be a new story published.

Imo GW2 is way better than any other game out there. There are sooo many epic things you can participate in or even make a moment ingame epic. Like you were mining and suddenly a Champion appears, you try to flee and just in the right moment out of nowhere a giant burning dragontooth appears and resucues you, then you notice it came from an Elementalist, you run up the hill, switch to you bow, cripple the Champion, start kiting around while the Elementalist continues to slow down him and deal damage.

Would be really awesome to read more of such stories, even more awesome if the players who submit them know how to do a bit of roleplay and storytelling :)

Another great thing would be custom ingame events you could announce.

Like a race around divinitys reach or just a party at a local bar (or maybe a pool party in LA? ;) ). Another idea would be a race in a jumping puzzle, whoever gets to the finish first wins a prize.

In GW2 there are so many places which all look fantastic and would be perfect for events.

I hope you like my ideas :)
