This year's Halloween Event kicks off with a scavenger hunt of epic proportions. The adventurers in Tyria are scrambling to recover the lost history of Mad King Thorn and they need your help. Hidden throughout the land are six ghosts holding six pages of the Mad Memoires, and locating all six will reward you with a brand new back item. Our guide to the first act reveals the locations of all six pages, along with details on operating the Candy-Powered Matter Meter.
With the Shadow of the Mad King event now in full swing, players are scampering across Tryia to carve pumpkins, locate Haunted Doors for some trick-or-treating fun, and participate in a variety of other activities themed for Halloween. However, there are plenty of other ghostly encounters to be found on various maps in the game. In the spirit of the holiday, we've rounded up a few of our favorite ghostly encounters for you to check out in this special edition of our explorer's journal, the Splendid Chest.
Our skill challenge guide series continues today with the mid-level map, Bloodtide Coast. This map features the entrance to the Chantry of Secrets, oodles of bandits, and more underwater content than you can shake a trident at. It also plays home to six unique skill challenges, with most being fairly straight forward, and one or two offering a true challenge for most players.
If there’s one thing Guild Wars 2 has no shortage of, it’s pirates. Whether living or undead, they have a strong presence in the game on numerous maps. And while player characters won’t be sailing the high seas in search of lost treasure, we do regularly draw some heavy influence from our pirateering brethren. Part of the fun of scampering around Tyria and defeating the native inhabitants is to see what kind of shiny loot they have, after all.
One of the ways to increase your chances of obtaining the shiniest loot possible for your efforts is through items, consumables, or temporary buffs that provide an increase to Magic Find. There is a tradeoff, however, as Magic Find found on accessories, armor, or weapons will replace a more vital combat attribute.
In this guide we’ll go over your different options for putting together a cost effective set of magic find gear, outline the various types of consumables and buffs that enhance it even further, and explain how it impacts your chances of obtaining higher quality loot.
Resident skill hunter Prime is back with another guide in our rapidly expanding collection of skill challenge guides for Guild Wars 2. Today he takes a romp through Brisban Wildlands, the first major map that most asuran and sylvari characters will encounter once they've moved beyond their racial starting maps. As with most skill challenges at the lower levels, those found in Brisban will be fairly easy to complete while solo, though there are a couple that tend to require the efforts of a few players to complete.
You can never have enough skill points in Guild Wars 2. Even after you've unlocked all of the skills for your profession and race, these points become a precious commodity if you intend to take advantage of using the Mystic Forge to create mystic or legendary weapons. Continuing our series to the various skill challenges in GW2, today we've got a complete guide to the mid-level Harathi Hinterlands map.
We're big fans of the vistas in Guild Wars 2 and find them to be well worth the exploration time even if you're not aiming for 100% map completion. Continuing our series of guides to the various maps in the game, today we've got a detailed guide to the 10 unique vistas found in Wayfarer Foothills.
