There are many rewards for the intrepid explorers of the world of Tyria in Guild Wars 2. There are out of the way areas of interest that are hidden gems, but one of the main rewards for traveling through the game's various zones is interacting with Vistas. When the player discovers a vista, they can interact with it and be rewarded with a short cinematic cutscene that proudly shows the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding area.
Vistas in Guild Wars 2 take the form of a scroll hovering in midair within a pillar of light. To interact with the vista and start the cutscene, the player has to hit [F] on their keyboard when they are adjacent to the scroll. While some vistas are easily reached by simply walking up to them, others are harder to reach and may require completing a jumping puzzle to get to.
There are other tangible rewards for seeking out vistas in Guild Wars 2. Vistas count towards the completion total of both the local zone and the world and the player also gains xp when they interact ("discover") with a vista for the first time.
The Wayfarer Foothills, the starting zone for norn players, has a total of ten vistas for the hardy player to discover. The terrain of the Wayfarer Foothills ranges from deep forest to the frigid mountain heights. A player will know the number of vistas by looking at the loading screen when entering a zone or at any time in the map legend for that area. A vista is identified on maps (you open a map by hitting the [M] key) with two red triangles.

Vista #1 - Heart of the Bear
The first vista in the Wayfarer Foothills is found at the Heart of the Bear point of interest, south of the Doldenvan Passage. The vista is found on top of a cliff on the western side of the river. Getting to the vista is easy as all you have to do is run up a cliff path on the western side of the river. Be aware that there are a number of eagle griffons in the area and you'll have to deal with them to interact with the vista.
Vista #2 - Snowlord's Gate
The second vista in the Wayfarer Foothills is located on top of a building found at Snowlord's Gate. To reach this vista, you'll need to go up the path that lies to the east of Snowlord's Gate that takes you up to the Heart of the Raven point of interest. From the cliff edge, jump over to the building that has the vista on top. You will then run/jump up beams of timber. When you get to the top of where the large pipe goes into the building, jump up from there to the roof and interact with the vista.
Vista #3 - Molensk
Our next vista in the Wayfarer Foothills likes in the area of Molensk and is found deep within the mine. The vista in this location is found on top of a giant pipe. The main difficulty here is having to fight through the denizens of the mine to get to the vista. To reach the vista, all you have to do is run up the pipe from the southeast. This pipe starts from the ground and goes up to another pipe that has the vista at the end of up. Just run up the first pipe and then down the second pipe to the vista and you're done.
Vista #4 - Gaerta's Summit
The fourth vista in this zone can be found at Gaerta's Summit, which is south of Breakneck Pass. This vista is incredibly easy to get to. The vista is located on a cliff edge next to a bridge spanning the pass. All you have to do to reach the vista is to simply walk up to it. Easy, peasy!
Vista #5 - The Osenfold Shear
The fifth vista in the Wayfarer Foothills is located in the Osenfold Shear on top of a ridge. To reach this vista, go around to the north side of the ridge. Where the wall ends, you'll see a path going up the side of the cliff. Follow the path (with some minor jumps) up to the vista.
Vista #6 - Darkriven Bluffs
The sixth vista in the Wayfarer Foothills is found at the Darkriven Bluffs. The only difficulty in interacting with this vista is that you'll have to fight a number of Sons of Svanir that populate the area. The vista itself is found at the edge of the cliff and all you have to do is simply walk up to it.
Vista #7 - The Shadowhorns
Vista number seven in the Wayfarer Foothills lies on top of a cliff overlooking the Shadowhorns, the place where adventurers go to soak in the hot springs (or get a skill point from defeating Burrisson the Blue). To reach this vista, the player will have to walk to the eastern edge, on the northern face, of the mountain. There you'll see a path that you'll run up. Just keep running up the mountain on the northern side and you'll reach the vista.
Vista #8 - Twinspur Haven
The eighth vista in the Wayfarer Foothills lies on top a cliff to the east of Twinspur Haven, which itself lies south of the Icesteppes. To get to this vista, you'll have to run up the stairs in Twinspur Haven that lie against the northern wall and go up towards the east. At the top of the stairs, hop over the wall onto the cliff and keep heading up eastwards to the vista. Nothing to it!
Vista #9 - Wurmhowl Spikes
Our next vista found within the Wayfarer Foothills is located at the Wurmhowl Spikes. This vista lies on top of a cliff and, to reach it, the player needs to go up the path found at the southwest part of the cliff. Go up the path and head north to the vista. One word of warning! This area is also a camp for the Sons of Svanir and you'll have to fight some of them on your journey. Once you get past the small camp, you'll have to contend with some eagle griffons that lurk in the area around the vista.
Vista #10 - Svanir's Dome
The last vista in the Wayfarer Foothills is located south of Svanir's Dome. The vista is located at the top of a tower, which happens to be part of a large settlement of the Sons of Svanir. There are a lot of bad guys to beat down to reach your objective. If you're lucky, you'll show up while some dynamic events are occurring where the good guys are attempting to capture the towers in the area from the Sons of Svanir. When you reach the tower, go inside and run up the ramps to the very top. Once you're at the top, hop over the railing and walk out on the timber that has the vista at the very end. When you're done with the movie, carefully turn around and go back into the tower. It's a long way to fall if you step off the timber.
There you have it, my fellow adventurers, a complete guide to the vistas found in the Wayfarer Foothills. None of the vistas are difficult to reach, with the exception of having to fight your way to them. Still, being treated to some nice mini-movies in Guild Wars 2 (not to mention extra xp!) makes it all worthwhile. Just make sure you bundle up as it's freakin' cold throughout most of the zone!
