The Bloodtide Coast is located just south of Lion's Arch and has a level range of 45 to 55. There are a total of six skill challenges located within the Bloodtide Coast and these skill challenges have a variety of ways to complete them. Some skill challenges are successfully completed by interaction (called communion) with an object, whilst other skill challenges require a challenging, brutal fight to gain the precious additional skill point. One skill challenge on the Bloodtide Coast is actually a mini-game of target practice for the player to complete.
Skill challenge locations are marked on your map. To see where they are located, open your map by hitting the [M] key.

Skill Challenge #1 - Deadend Cave
The first skill challenge in the Bloodtide Coast is found at Deadend Cave, located on Stormbluff Isle. This skill challenge is a fight against the diminutive thief, Special Agent Xinn, and it's a doozy of a throwdown. The fight begins after you interact with Special Agent Xinn, and he proves himself to be an extremely tough opponent. He'll use his Dagger Storm ability, where he spins in place and throws out daggers that not only damage the player, but also cripple and bleed the player as well. When he's not spinning daggers at you, Xinn is constantly shadowstepping to and from the player. He is constantly in motion and will lead you on a merry chase.
The player's best option is to attempt to slow him down and stay on top of him. Ranged attacks are good to as you don't have to constantly chase him to hit him. As with any tough fight, use any useful abilities (such as traps, marks or poison) right before you start the fight. Overall, Xinn is a very tough fight and I would definitely recommend bringing a friend along.
Skill Challenge #2 - Stormbluff Beacon
The second skill challenge found on the Bloodtide Coast is located at Stormbluff Beacon, which is on Stormbluff Isle. This skill challenge is different as that the player tries to their hand at a little mini-game to earn their skill point. The skill challenge begins when the player interacts with Deputy Crackshot, who will direct them to a group of cannons.
The player has to fire the cannon at a hill dotted with giant targets and needs to hit three of the targets to complete the skill challenge. The player can move the cannon to the left or right and holds down the fire button to determine range. The power of the shot is shown on a bar that fills up as the player holds down the fire button. The longer the fire button is held, the farther the cannon will shoot.
Players shouldn't have any problems with this skill challenge and it's a nice change of pace from the normal skill challenge contests of either fighting or communing with an object. It can also be a good way to get a feel for how cannons (and by extension other siege weapons) function before putting them to work in World versus World.
Skill Challenge #3 - Covington Keep
The third skill challenge found on the Bloodtide Coast resides within Covington Keep, which is located on Laughing Gull Island. To reach the skill challenge location, the player will have to enter the keep (a large ship on land) and keep going downstairs once you've entered the ship. At the bottom, the player will come across a pool of water with a Beckoning Force, represented by a pillar of light, that the player can interact with and gain their new skill point. The main dangers associated with this skill challenge location are the pirates in the area and the cannon at the entrance to the keep that will fire upon you as you attempt to get into the keep.
While a solo player can usually reach this skill challenge on their own, we'd recommend asking in /map chat if anyone else is working on attaining it so that you can combine forces. The pirates tend to respawn quickly, and due to the tight quarters you will often pull adds from other parts of the ship on your way through, so be prepared for a fair amount of combat versus multiple enemies.
Skill Challenge #4 - Flooded Castavall
Our next skill challenge on the Bloodtide Coast can be found deep in the Flooded Castavall, just southeast (and down!) from the Castavall Waypoint. This skill challenge just requires the player to commune with a Krait Place of Power. The skill challenge location is deep underwater at the bottom of a shaft that is located in an underwater chamber full of undead.
In fact, a dynamic event spawns in the area where a champion undead swims around causing trouble for the unwary player. The only difficulty here is the undead swarming the area and the champion if he spawns. My advice is to get to the skill challenge quickly, commune, and get out. You don't want to get bogged down fighting tons of undead.
Skill Challenge #5 - Mournful Depths
The fifth skill challenge on the Bloodtide Coast is found south of the Mournful Depths. This skill challenge requires the player to fight Two-Eye Ignatl to gain the skill point. Like every fight, the player will interact with the NPC to begin the fight. The fight is a good, hard fight. Two-Eye hits hard and can take a lot of punishment, but he does not employ any special attacks or strategies. Just use your normal abilities and heals that you would in any tough fight and you will prevail.
Skill Challenge #6 - Lostwreck Passage
The final skill challenge on the Bloodtide Coast is located at the Lostwreck Passage, which can be found in the Mentecki Pass area of the zone. This skill challenge requires the player to fight against the Heroic Drake Brood which consists of the River Drake Broodmother and two River Drake Hatchlings.
The hatchlings are easily disposed of, but the Broodmother requires considerable more effort to bring down. The fight against the Broodmother isn't horribly difficult in of itself, but the fight is complicated by two factors. The first is that the fight takes place underwater so many of your skills may not be usable during the fight. (No caltrops for my thief!) The other difficult factor is that there are a lot of river drakes in the area and they will aggro into the fight. My recommendation is to kill the hatchlings and the river drakes that join the fight, and then concentrate on bringing down the Broodmother.
The skill challenges found on the Bloodtide Coast are nicely varied. There is a healthy mix of challenging fights, simple communion with objects, and even a target practice mini-game. Special Agent Xinn gives players one doozy of a fight while swimming down to the skill challenge in the Flooded Castavall is fraught with peril from the many undead. Overall, the skill challenge system in Guild Wars 2 is a great game mechanic that rewards players for exploring the world of Tyria. Even end-game characters can enjoy the skill challenges found on the Bloodtide Coast with Guild Wars 2's dynamic leveling system. Now get out there and grab those extra skill points!
