The Feature Pack update is bringing with it a massive amount of changes including a complete overhaul to the World Boss system, timers and mechanics. This update, coming April 15th, is putting the bosses onto a rigid schedule so that - while map instances will constantly change due to the Megaserver system - players will always be able to access this content. Here we gather all relevant information on these World Boss updates to make certain you are prepared for the release.

How and Why It Is Changing

Due to the Megaserver changes there was an issue on how World Bosses began and completed. Some bosses sat about for eternity and waited for players to initiate them while others never finished until players went out of their way to kill them. That was an issue for a new server system that was designed to make and close new instances of maps at any time. This caused timers to become completely pointless as it was practically impossible to keep a constant track of these constantly shifting maps.

The new changes put in place are designed to put the World Bosses on a rigid track of time. No matter what server or map instance you are on there will always be a set time for a boss to spawn. This makes it easier for people who happen to be in the area to stumble upon some new boss but also allows people out of the map to instantly travel over when that timer hits.

It is important to note that this means there are some serious changes to the mechanics of some of these bosses. Taidha Covington, for instance, doesn’t require the long amount of Dynamic Events in order to get her to spawn and fight. She will just simply show up at her designated time. On the other hand events like Modniir Ulgoth now have a failure timer. If you want to get your daily events done you will have to be there on time and ready to get right to killing the boss.

The Times

The Karka Queen, Tequatl and Great Jungle Wurm will now be centered on the prime times of the various regions:

  • Karka Queen will begin at 3:30 AM, 9:00 AM and 6 PM PST.
  • Tequatl will begin at 4:30 AM, 10 AM and 7 PM PST.
  • Great Jungle Wurm will begin at 5:30 AM, 11 AM and 8 PM PST.

Megadestroyer, The Shatterer, Modniir Ulgoth, Golem Mark II, Claw of Jormag, Taidha Covington and “TBD” will be staggered over a, roughly, five hour rotation. One of these events will always begin at :00 or :30 every hour.

The Jungle Wurm, Shadow Behemoth, Svaniir Shaman and Fire Elemental will be spread out over an hour and a half rotation. One of these events will always begin at :15 or :45 every hour.

It is interesting to note that you can get each of these daily events done over the course of about four hours every day. If you begin with the Megadestroyer event and end with Taidha Covington the time blocks to get every event done one after another are as follows:

  • 4:00 PM PST – 8:30 PM PST
  • 2:30 AM PST – 7:00 AM PST
  • 7:30 AM PST – 12:00 PM PST

It isn’t hard to imagine that some of these times won’t work for some people and guilds or that you maybe want to take on a World Boss more often. A new guild upgrade has been made available to allow guilds the ability to spawn these bosses at almost any time. At the cost of some influence and merits, a guild can begin a boss encounter at any time so long as it isn’t too close to when the event was about to normally begin.

One important thing to note is that this does not award the guild any merits or commendations at this point. This feature is only designed to allow players the ability to claim rewards and achievements on a schedule closer to their own preferences. Guilds will have to do missions to make up the cost for this new feature.
