If you could add one feature..

April 24, 2012 - 7:24pm -- sylvinstar

If you could add one completely new feature to Guild Wars 2 (housing for example), or add on to a current feature (player crafting plots available for players to set up crafting villages in the world), what would it be?

Personally, I'd like to see the 2nd example I gave.

I know I haven't played much

I know I haven't played much and am still under the 20 mark, but one thing I would like to see added is perhaps an entire area that is underwater...with events and everything down there.  I know Lion's Arch has a decent sized area underwater, but unless I am just missing it, I didn't realy see much in the way of fighting underwater or areas with missions to be completed and such down there.

Water is one of the new improves overe GW1, just like Jumping.  There are lots of Jumping puzzels, but what of the underwater realms?

Of course, as I said, I may have just missed them.

Galen

There is such a thing.  Colin talked about it in an interview with Sardu:

Over and over and over again, everything that we saw was slapped in. It wasn’t a feature, it was just something you could do, and the gamplay wasn’t very fun when you were underwater. Usually when you were there you wanted to get out of it as fast as you could. Or you had some breath health meter where it’s like you’re down there and have to get right back out again.

So we were like, alright, if we’re going to do this we either do it completely or we don’t do it at all. There are maps in the game that are primarily underwater. Entire maps as big as this one here [Referring to the Cornucopian Fields map showcased in the current demo build for level 28 characters] and they’re completely filled with dynamic events that chain across an area, and they’re all underwater.

Underwater is just as important as everything that you do on land. We have entire personal story chains that take you down under the ocean. So we did all of that with skills to take into account the fact that we really wanted to make that a core feature and part of the game.

I think I would want housing,

I think I would want housing, or at least the ability to buy a room at an inn or something.

I find it happens if I haven

I find it happens if I haven't posted for a while, for example every time I'm away for more than a week I end up making at least one anonymous post before realizing I'm not logged in.

Are you a guardian? Let me introduce you to my Flesh Golem, he's getting a bit hungry.

Airships. Not player

Airships. Not player controlled, but flying around the skies, sometimes getting blown to bits by monsters, *possibly dragons* Think of the possible DE events that could happen if those were around.

It'd also be nice to view the world from a high place while moving at the same time. I know there's asuran gates and all but still, for the atmosphere and sheer DE event possibility

I think Asura gates don't

I think Asura gates don't preclude airships.  The gates get you instantly from one place to another, but airships would provide military and scouting uses.  They definitely could put them in game.  Imagine a DE where you had to board airships and have open deck combat mid-flight..pure win.yes
