Fractals of the Mists

If you haven’t already read Sardu’s Complete Guide to Fractals of the Mists, you really should.  In the interim, Innuendo and I have gotten together this week to take on the Fractals and provide unique guides for each one.  Surprisingly there are still a huge number of players who have yet to run a single Fractal and having grouped with random players, it’s also apparent how little information there is on each Fractal and what you have to do (it’s painstaking to explain each encounter).

What makes producing guides for Fractals a little trickier is the fact that at higher levels of difficulty the monsters in them react differently and obtain an enhanced set of skills to make your life more difficult. With all that in mind, we’re going to begin releasing our first set of guides this coming Friday (Thanksgiving permitting) with future updates and enhancements to them based on increased difficulty.

Before all that however, if we you feel there’s anything we should be covering in relation to the Fractals or have a suggestion on how to go about it, do let us know in the comment below or drop me an email on [email protected]

I look forward to see what you have to say about each Fractal. I've got to level 5, and I've now experienced all nine. Providing hints on how to get each extra achievement for each Fractal would be useful. For instance, the Flawless Fins Foils Foes; I somehow got this achievement, despite getting damaged and downed during the dolphin dash (excuse the alliteration!).

The Fractal with the Mossman and all the traps is either super easy (ie: complete the first part in under a minute), or, without an organised team, impossible. Hints on how to get the achievement would be useful (trigger no traps). I'm guessing a team with 3 mesmers could portal it safely, but that requires A) 3 mesmers on a team, and B) luck in entering that Fractal when you have 3 mesmers on the team.

One thing to bear in mind; several Fractals have two paths and potential bosses at the end. For instance, in the dredge Fractal with the cages and opening doors with pressure plates, you either face a dredge mining suit at the end, or an ice golem.

One thing I have noticed about the Fractals; communication is key, more so than other PvE areas / dungeons.
