Diary Of - Entry 6: We Rally

Down to the last drops of my health and only just managing to slip past the Krait, I realise how used to drinking an emergency potion I must be.  I find myself itching to use one, either that or desperately wishing I could shout "heal me!" as I swim limply. 

My Elixir H still has 15 seconds left before I can use it and there are three Red invaders heading right for me. 

"How far off?" I ask my merry men.

"Two minutes. Hang tight" they quickly reply. 

Two minutes feels like a lifetime when you're about to die, made even worse when faced with the prospect of running back from the nearest Waypoint, which is about ten minutes away. 

Arriving back on the island, my friend and I quickly scramble up the bank and cut through the ruins, avoiding the Quaggan who are running around in a merry circle.  I daren't look back, knowing that the Red invaders are still behind me. I've never liked the feeling of being chased, it instantly gives me the shakes and is made all the worse when you know there are over a dozen people after you. 

Rolling forward, several arrows fly past and miss me as I dodge out of their way.  With no endurance two more arrows hit me straight in the back, leaving me one arrow away from death. As my endurance fills, I've just enough to dodge again and avoid the Rangers killing blow, buying me enough time to drink my Elixir H that also grants me protection.  Praise the gods!  Tossing my Elixir H down on the floor it shatters and I'm granted vigor, giving me the boost to endurance I so desperately need and allowing me to dodge again. 

"Turn and fight?" I shout quickly as I try to hide behind the nearby ruins, managing to avoid several more arrows.

"Yeah let's do it". 

Just as we are about to, a handful of my guild come into view and charge at the Ranger.  Our most experienced Elementalist drops a Draggons Tooth straight onto his head and I wince at his health disappearing. Rallying, we push forward and charge into the pack of Red Invaders that have come ashore. Luckily for us many of the Red invaders are still swimming through the water, buying us precious time to kill off some of those unfortunate enough to be ahead of the pack. 

"The Rangers down, take the Guardian?" 

"Yeah, they've two Mesmers in the water and an Warrior incoming". 

"Did anyone ever see the Rangers pet?" I ask while busily laying my rifle turret on the shoreline. 

"I think it was dead from earlier, luckily for you"

The Ranger must be furious at not having killed me, I know I would have been.

We're at risk of being left open as the Guardian buys his team mates precious time to arrive on the island. Luckily for us he shows his inexperience and dies much quicker than most we've encountered today, leaving six of us awaiting the Red Invaders. 

Sensing an upperhand, those of us equipped with ranged weapons begin to fire on those in the water. I actually feel a little guilty as they're sitting ducks and it's too far back to the northern shoreline for them to retreat. 

"What shall we do after we've killed this lot?" one of my merry men ask.

"It's all too easy isn't it. Shall we head back to Ascenion Bay after? It's under attack again". 

As the last of the Red invaders bob helplessly on the water, I wish we could dance in celebration of our victory, but the best we can do is sit down and jump at the same time.
