What are Experience Points?
Registered, logged-in users accumulate Experience Points (XP) based on their level of participation on the site. In most cases you will earn XP by interacting with other members of the community in some way. As you earn XP you will be able to see your total points in the XP bar located on the sidebar on most pages of the site. You can also view a complete list of all points earned so far by clicking on the My Experience link in the user menu.
How do I earn XP on the site?
You can earn XP simply by interacting with the community on GW2Hub. This currently includes:
- Commenting on articles
- Creating new forum threads
- Replying to forum threads
- Asking questions (GW2 Answers)
- Answering questions (GW2 Answers)
- Submitting community events that are approved for listing on the Events Calendar
We'll be adding more ways to earn XP in the future, but the primary goal of the system will remain the same: award our readers for taking the time to interact with the community.
What happens when I reach the XP cap?
To start off we decided to keep the XP cap fairly low so that it shouldn't take too long for new users to hit the cap. Once the cap is reached, we have some unique perks in store for our readers. Examples might include automatic entry into unique giveaways, or custom user displays on the forums.
Will the XP cap ever increase?
Over time we will indeed increase the XP cap for users on the site. When this happens, the site will "level up" and more features will be added to the system, as well as new perks for users who reach the new XP cap.
Because this system is intended to be a perk for our readers who take the time to interact with the community here on the site, we will also carefully consider any feedback you provide in terms of what types of features or perks you'd like to see added in the future.
Are there any death penalties that cause XP loss?
The only way you'll ever suffer a death penalty is if you choose to delete your Guild Wars 2 Hub account, or you're a lame spammer who attempts to shill your cruddy wares via comments or on the forums. Spam will be nuked from the site immediately, and along with it any XP you gained on your account.
The moral of the story: Don't delete your account, and don't be a lame spammer!
