With the pre-purchase looming ever closer, the first of the public beta weekend events can't be too far away.
What are your plans for the first one?
My plans are to tool around with the character creation system for way too long, and then I will most probably hang out in WvW for the rest of the time. I figure that WvW most probably needs the most attention/stress testing as if they don't get that right then there will be a lot of bawling on the forums when the game goes live.
Plus if I am in the WvW zones, then I don't spoil the PvE side of things for when the game goes live. ![]()

Tempted just to find the highest spot and jump off of it! For no reason at all!

You know there is going to be bitching even if it's perfect right Haelyn? People always find a reason to complain but lets hope the devs don't listen to them unless the problem is truly warranted.
Also you had me all excited that they had announced the dates for the beta weekends...shame on you!
And how! There'll always be people looking for that one excuse to "this is why I'm not playing" their way into a flame war. I remember doing it myself before in certain unnamed games, although for good reason.

I would spend beta figuring out what my second alt would be by tooling around with some low level classes of interest. Sometimes you can just tell when a class clicks right away.
Agreed.
My choice the Guardian as my main is entirely flexible. I may get into the game and find that I like the way the Engineer plays more.
If Sylvari are available then I'll probably mess with their character creation for a while. I'll probably run around the world, check out the combat system, the dynamic events and try out at least a few classes. Might mess around with Charr character creation too as I've decided that I want to make at least one Charr character due to how cool they are. :P
I'm going to compile deta on things that I'm sure that won't change.

I've got a flexible schedule for the beta events.
Day 1 Train train train, unlock as much things as possible *skills, weapon swap, elite, etc.*
Day 2 TROLL THE **** OUT OF WVW AND ALL WILL BEG FOR MERCY BEFORE ME HAHAHAHHAHA
Day 3 repeat day 2.
Don't forget to shout "WoW was the first mmo!" line periodically to make people rage.

I'm a troll, not a liar. :<
I'm likely to experiment with the character creation for quite some time.

Ahhh! The standard inital double post.
And then the inevitable following triple post to comment on the situation. Welcome to the forums, Chylok!
Man it is gonna be tough for me to resist doing all those achievements. I love titles and the like, but theres no reason to do them cuz the beta accounts get wiped >.<
I definitely want to test out how robust the party and friend system is, and see how well it functions in general.
Does anyone know if guild creation will be in during this next beta?
i think the first 5 hours will be spent with my character AFK as i have fits of excitement and pleasure of just the character creation, once they subside i will move on to leveling my weps up. and just exploring the zones finding cool secrets etc. So excited for this game...
In the last beta event I caught myself actively trying to complete achievements a number of times. In some cases it's actually a good idea, even for event weekends if you're trying to reach a certain level or whatever. For example, completing any of the Daily achievements will give you some nice XP boosts, so it's worth scanning over the list to see what's there. Most you'll probably earn naturally though, like killing 10 different types of creatures, or defeating 10 of X.
You'll want to keep an eye out for when you complete those since the XP gain isn't automatic. Instead, a small chest spawns like a loot drop that you'll have to interact with [F key] to gain the XP. Sometimes they can be easy to miss depending on when you earn them. For example, I had a couple drop in the middle of a massive (think multiple waves of 20+) centaur invasion at a small outpost. Between the chaos of fighting and all the corpses that were piling up, I nearly missed the chests since they're kind of small.
I can see the xp loot chests falling into terrain and inaccessible
hmm, maybe they should have them fall into your inventory instead. :P
It was in during the last two weekends, so I'm sure it will be implemented for the future events. I actually have an in-process article outlining the guild system, but can give you some quick info here.
For the last event, I ended up being in two guilds. One was the Heroes of Tyria guild that consisted of the ArenaNet devs and press. Since that one was a bit larger, by the end of the event we had earned enough influence to unlock a bunch of WvW perks to help with things like building siege weapons etc.
On the first day, however, I also created a Necrobator guild that I set to "represent" any time I was playing one of the necros I created. For that, all it took was opening the guild UI and hitting the 'create guild' button, and then setting it as my active guild. There are, however, guild registrar NPCs in the cities, so I won't be surprised if there's eventually a small fee involved. Still, I was able to create the guild super quickly, with no fee, and without having to be in a group or anything.
On the Necrobator guild, even as a single person guild I was able to earn enough influence over the weekend to unlock a couple of basics, like creating a custom guild emblem. I probably could have unlocked a lot more, but I did hop back and forth between guilds fairly often depending on which character I was playing, or what I was doing in-game.
Great to see there is no minimum number for a guild hehe. I definitely see some super guilds forming for WvWvW just so people can power up one or two guilds to be powerhouses for the server.
I have friends in lower range numbers from previous games *not mmos* who I was in clans/guilds with. We are planning to team up again in GW2, and since our numbers may not be that high, we should be excellent for supply base seizing, while other guild groups focus on attacking nearby keeps or towers.
I want to see a castle siege next beta. Those enormous castles look amazing and I'd kill just to view an epic battle both outside, and in the castle gates as well as the castle itself.
@ NecromancerMarona
At least 2 of my friends and I were talking about that very thing. I actually think that there will be decent sized groups trying to roll and hold supply camps because they are what will ultimately determine the fate of a keep/castle.
I'm not sure whether or not you've seen it yet, Marona, but the Yogscast have a video with a little bit of WvW siege footage that you may enjoy.
Heres a link >_> : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk06sCaB0l4
Yeah I saw that video, its very amusing seeing the prospective of a losing defense, *and not just a few players vs a huge zerg, literally a good amount of players on each side*
I hope to get that when defending and failing, the pressure, excitement, and bloodlust when both defending and attacking reaches its climax.
